Local Charities “Take the Cake”

Last week, Hanan Products held a “birthday party” to celebrate 75 years in business. Attending guests included family, employees (our extended family), friends, local customers including distributors and bakery partners, elected officials, and representatives from local charities. The plant was decorated beautifully with banners, balloons, vintage Hanan product containers, then and now photos, a table set up with  product samples, and a giant display with 75 cakes of different shapes, colors, sizes, and flavors to signify Hanan’s 75th anniversary. We donated 50 of these cakes to local charities serving children and people in need on Long Island and nearly 200 Boys & Girls Club kids enjoyed our celebratory cakes.

The following organizations received cake donations from Hanan:

Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro

Ronald McDonald House Charities supports children in need of medical care and their families. They provide thousands of families with a home to live in, just steps from their children’s bedside, where their medical team cares for them. The organization serves more than 130,000 meals to families caring for their sick child.

Hanan donated a dozen cakes that families and children in their facility were able to enjoy.

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club

Director of Programs and Professional Development Melissa Rhodes and Assistant Athletic Director Michelle Gallucci represented the Grenville Baker Club; one cake was shaped like a game controller and another like a unicorn. Grenville Baker also held a cake decorating contest with Club kids.

According to Melissa Rhodes, “The event was wonderful and so nice to see this company get the wonderful recognition it deserves for serving this community and the world for 75 years.”

Hicksville Boys & Girls Club

Jackie Goncalves from the Hicksville Club attended the event and accepted the tasty and aesthetically pleasing donation.

The Salvation Army Hempstead Corps

The Salvation Army (TSA) serves people experiencing homelessness, individuals and families coping with food insecurity, and the working poor. The Hempstead Corps is part of TSA Greater New York, which has served more than 7,500,000 meals over the past 12 months. This cake donation was the icing on TSA’s feeding program.
