Hanan Family Recipe Revealed!

Many families have recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. It is no surprise that the Hanan family has a dessert recipe including one of their very own whipped toppings.

This piña colada cake was first made by Mrs. Hanan, the wife of Hanan Products’ founder. Our current CEO, Frank Hanan, remembers having this dessert as a little boy. Frank’s son, Ryan Hanan, doesn’t recall a family celebration without it. It has truly stood the test of time.

With many family celebrations happening at the start of Summer, you’ll want to have the cake ingredients on hand. It takes just about 30 minutes to make and all you’ll need is your favorite yellow cake, a can of crushed pineapple, Top ‘n Fil Vanilla & coconut flakes.

To make the cake: Whip up Top ‘n Fil vanilla. Strain the juice from the pineapples then fold pineapples in fully whipped Top ‘n Fil. Cut your cake horizontally to form 2 layers. Place a thick layer of the pineapple topping on 1 cake layer and cover it with the other cake layer. Cover the entire cake with Top ‘n Fil vanilla and coconut flakes. Lastly, enjoy with family and friends!

A vegan version of this cake can be made by swapping out the Top ‘n Fil for Whip Deelite ready-to-whip vanilla…as long as your cake recipe is vegan!

Another variation of the dessert can be made by soaking the cake layers in Tres ‘Licious tres leches mix.

To top the cake like a true Hanan, add some swirls of topping with maraschino cherries in the middle.
